Book: Edgar Cayce on the Akashic Records

Edgar Cayce on the Akashic Records
- by Kevin J. Todeschi

“The Akashic Records – or Book of Life – is the storehouse of all information for every individual who has ever lived upon the earth, containing every word, deed, feeling, thought, and intent that has ever occurred.
This major work is about how each of us is very much in charge of shaping our own destiny. It includes examples of how individuals have worked with information from the Book of Life dealing with their past, their present, and their future.
Here, for the first time, is an exploration into the very source from which famed psychic Edgar Cayce said he received many of his remarkable insights. It was this record that Cayce accessed in order to give the information that brought him recognition as one of the world’s great seers.
Edgar Cayce on the Akashic Records provides examples of how each of us can tap into our own past lives, our present experiences, and our unfolding futures to shape our own destiny.”
- back of the book

“Apparently, any type of endeavor – whether action, thought, desire, or deed – creates some kind of vibration. This vibration produces a mark upon (what Cayce called) the skein of space and time and is somehow permanently identified with the individual responsible.” – pg 3

“…although we are currently having a physical experience, our bodies are simply a temporal home. Just as an automobile is discarded when the owner no longer finds it useful, so too are our bodies set aside when they have completed their function. We are not physical bodies with souls, but are spiritual beings who happen to be having a physical existence.” – pg 5

“The soul gains firsthand knowledge not only about its own identity but also learns how choices lead to certain experiences. In time, soul experiences and acquired knowledge will lead to wisdom. Inevitably, wisdom will lead to compassion and eventually love will be the end result.” – pg 6

“In essence, life is an adventure of experiences whereby an individual is challenged to become a better person for having had those experiences.” – pg 10

“It (karma) is not really a debt that must be paid, nor is it necessarily a set of specific circumstances that must be experience because of deeds or misdeeds from the past. Karma is simply patterns of memory.” – pg 11

“Regardless of which cycle has surfaced in one’s life, the soul constantly experiences the consequences of its previous choices.” – pg 13

“… we never meet anyone by chance, nor do we ever have an emotional connection (positive or negative) to another individual for the very first time. … we pick up our relationship with another person exactly where it was left the last time around.” – pg 14

“… individuals seem to most effectively come to terms with their own karmic memory, or ‘meet themselves,’ through their interactions with others. … And yet, in spite of the fact that karma belongs to oneself, each soul is constantly drawn toward certain individuals and groups that will enable them to meet themselves in circumstances and relationships” – pg 15

“Ultimately, the purpose of each lifetime was to undergo experiences which would enable the soul to become in tune with its divine origins.” – pg 50

“… reincarnation was neither a belief system nor a philosophy; it was, instead, a factual process of personal development, eventually enabling each individual to reach soul maturity as a loving, creative, selfless being” – pg 72

“… ‘mind is the builder’ and that each individual is constantly involved in the creation of underlying attitudes and emotions.” – pg 80

“Our relationships with one another are an ongoing process, from which we can learn a great deal about ourselves. We never meet anyone by chance. Instead, souls are drawn together again and again for possible personal soul development - a development, ultimately, which will assist each individual in becoming a fit companion with the Creator.” – pg 83

“Each of us contains many urges, patterns, and conflicting emotions that must be resolved in the soul’s educational process of discovering ‘who am I?’ Whether or not these lessons are learned in the present becomes a matter of free choice, but if they are not learned, they will simply be presented again and again in various ways until they are mastered.” – pg 88

“… the earth is literally a ‘cause and effect’ classroom in which each individual constantly has the opportunity to meet self and apply spiritual principles in the material world.” – pg 89

“Whatever is going on in the person’s life is evident in the aura. She states, ‘An individual’s aura changes as his or her physical health or vitality changes.’ When she sees gray spots around the heart area, for example she knows that the individual has had a heart attack or has some other problem with the heart.” – pg 104

“Everything the soul experiences happen for a reason – whether or not we choose to be conscious of the lesson involved just yet is a matter of free will, but the lesson eventually will be ours to learn.” – pg 111

“… sometimes a soul went backward in its development because of losses in a particular experience, but the goal was ever advancement.” – pg 167

“…anything done for the aggrandizement of self would ‘come to naught’ and that anything done for the glorification of the Creator would ‘come to fruition’. The long term goal was ‘that the soul, for its own development, may become one with the universal forces or Creative Energies, or God.’” – pg 167

“…no one is automatically destined for ‘heaven’ and no one is ever relegated to ‘hell’. Ultimately, all souls will receive the same reward: an awareness of their individuality and their oneness with God.” – pg 168

“Because of the dynamics of reincarnation, in all likelihood we have all been Christian, we have all been Muslim, we have all been Jewish, we have all been Hindu, Buddhist, atheist, and agnostics.” – pg 168

“…the importance of life was not a matter of one’s religion; rather, it was a matter of whether or not an individual could grow in his or her awareness of the living spirit. Heaven was not so much a place as it was a state of being which all souls would eventually manifest.” – pg 168

“In our sojourn through space and time we apparently have forgotten our spiritual essence, we have forgotten our true relationship with God.” – pg 169

“The focus is always upon others. The focus is never upon self.” – pg 172

Life lessons and Karma

As we go about our daily lives, we encounter other plants, animals and humans. By not understanding our intimate relationship with these living creatures, we fail to show them compassion over and over again. We forget that each and every being is here, to gather experience and to increase their Light or Buddha nature. Ants, cockroaches, birds, dogs, cats, your neighbors, strangers and your enemies are all here for the same reason as you do. While each yearns to improve, each also provides lessons to others through our daily interaction. You may get very angry when you find ants swarming over your food but if you look at it from the perspective of the ants, their job is to find food for their love ones back in the nest. Life may have been very tough for them and they have no idea, whatsoever, that the food belongs to you. By getting angry, you have not learned to be compassionate. In which case, this will form a lesson that you will have to learn, either in this life or in future lives. This formed the basis of Karma.

What if, instead of the ants messing with your food, it is your little baby doing it? Will you react differently? Why the bias? If you believe in reincarnation, you will know that your baby is another soul that may be attached to you only for this life. He or she could be one of your neighbors, friends, strangers or even enemies in past or future lives and his or her role in this life is to resolve some issue with you. Similarly, your neighbors that you dislike, or the stranger who bumps into you accidentally (but you punched him anyway), could be one of your family members in past lives. You may have treated them with love and respect then and why not now?

“It is possible that in the course of his evolution a man may have once been an animal, but he cannot be born as an animal again. In the process of evolution one cannot fall back… It is possible to move ahead from the previous form of birth, but it is not possible, from an advance form of birth, to fall back… It is indeed possible for some one to have previously been an animal or a bird; he must have been. But how long he remained in those species is a different matter. If we delved into our past lives we will be able to recall the species we have passed through so far. We may have been an animal, a bird, a little sparrow… lower and lower. Once we must have been at such a point of inertness where it is difficult to locate any sign of consciousness.
Mountains are alive as well; however, they contain almost no consciousness. They contain ninety-nine percent inertness and one percent consciousness. As life evolves, consciousness keeps on growing and inertness keeps on decreasing. Godliness is one hundred percent consciousness. The difference between godliness and matter is of percentage…That’s why matter can ultimately become God…If we look into our tendencies, it seems that although we are no longer animals we have not yet become human beings either; it seems that we are stuck somewhere in between. As soon as an opportunity arises, we don’t lose much time in reverting to the animal level once again….- at times we jump out of our animal state and become human beings, but then we revert to the same state again... After a hard day’s work, man turns into an animal; hence the world of night is different from the world of the day.”
- pg 51, AND NOW, AND HERE, On Death, Dying and Past Lives - by OSHO
First Published in Great Britain in 1995 by The C.W. Daniel Company Limited

From the perspective of the spirits, we were born into other physical bodies all the time, may it be plants, animals or human. Through millions of years of evolution of the souls, we learn and advance from near zero percent consciousness to the consciousness that we are at today. This consciousness is what the Buddhists called the Buddha nature. In other religions it is simply called the Light. This is why most paintings of saints, monks and religious persons come with a bright halo of light around their heads.

“So now you see that consciousness is on an upward spiral, and progresses onwards… even your own….”
“…We had all that Light all the time… and so few of us knew it!” (said the scientist)
“The Churches and all the Religions of the world knew it,” I protested.
“Maybe. But I was a scientist. They were building up a theory which nobody had proved.”
- pg 36, TESTIMONY OF LIGHT-by Helen Greaves 1969

Charity is big business in Singapore. Many are religiously linked. We see huge charity events on TV, endorsed by celebrities to attract donations. From monk scaling down a skyscraper to superhuman feats by celebrities, we have seen it all. Some donors too have their shares of limelight when their names get splashed across the papers. While the acts of raising funds for the less fortunate looks like a huge compassion, the intention is another. Frauds and personal greed led many of these fund raisers to the hall of shame. This act of compassion usually stops after the show is over. The same donors, who contributed to the success of the charity events, turn their nose from when approached by less fortunate at food centers. We have fake monks and nuns walking around asking for donation but we also have lots of elderly or handicap struggling to sell packets of tissue papers for their daily survival. If these were your elderly parents, will you help them? Unfortunately, most Singaporeans that I saw just pretend that they did not see. I for one do NOT donate at charity events but I will give my money to every single one of those who approach me for help at food centers and public places. They could be fake monks or nuns but I will not judge. There is a reason why they do what they are doing and I need not know why. If their intention is to prey on the compassion of others, they will pay the price. But if their intention is to feed and cloth their young, then my dollar would have gone a long way to help. The Lord Buddha said to his monks that by asking for alms, they are giving the lay people a chance to show their compassion.

Lives lessons will be repeated over and over again until you get it right. The roles may be reversed to let the lessons hit home but you cannot escape. What you do and what you think everyday will come back and ‘haunt’ you, without fail. The key to stop it is to show compassion. Put yourself in the other person’s shoe and look at the situation from his / her eyes before you make any judgment. If you can do that for every single situation you encounter, you will be assured a place among the angels.

Book: AND NOW, AND HERE -by Osho

AND NOW, AND HERE
On Death, Dying and Past Lives - by OSHO
First Published in Great Britain in 1995 by The C.W. Daniel Company Limited

Osho was born in Kuchwada, Madhya Pradesh, India, on Dec 11,1931. From his earliest childhood, his was a rebellious and independent spirit, insisting on experiencing the truth for himself rather than acquiring knowledge and beliefs given by others.
After his enlightenment at the age of twenty-one, Osho completed his academic studies and spent several years teaching philosophy at the University of Jabalpur. Meanwhile, he traveled throughout India giving talks, challenging orthodox religious leaders in public debate, questioning traditional beliefs, meeting people from all walks of life. He read extensively, everything he could find to broaden his understanding of the belief systems and psychology of contemporary man. By late 1960s Osho had begun to develop his unique dynamic meditation techniques… In the course of his work, Osho has spoken on virtually every aspect of the development of human consciousness. He had distilled the essence of what is significant to the spiritual quest of contemporary man, based not on intellectual understanding but tested against his own existential experience…. Osho left his body on January 19, 1990. – Pg 193

We can go through an experiment of entering into death of our own free will. And may I say that meditation or samadhi is nothing else but that. The experience of entering death voluntarily is meditation, samadhi. The phenomenon that will automatically occur one day with the dropping of the body – we can willingly make that happen by creating a distance, inside, between the self and the body. And so, by leaving the body from the inside, we can experience the event of death. We can experience death today, this evening – because the occurrence of death simply means that our soul and our body will experience, in that journey, the same distinction between the two of them as when the vehicle is left behind and the traveler moves on ahead. –pg 7

In meditation, too, one has to enter slowly within. And gradually, one after another, things begin to drop away. A distance is created with each and every thing, and a moment arrives when it feels as if everything is lying far away at a distance. It will feel as if someone else’s corpse is lying on the shore – and yet you exist. The body is lying there and still you exist – separate, totally distinct and different. – Pg 9

When one succeeds in recalling past lives and they begin to appear like dreams, immediately one’s present life begins to look like dreams too… Whosoever has remembered his past lives, for him the whole affair has suddenly turned into a dream, an illusion. Where are his friends of past lives? Where are his relatives, his wife and children, the houses he lived in? Where is that world? Where is everything he took to be so real? Where are those worries that gave him sleepless nights? Where are those pains and sufferings that seemed so insurmountable, that he carried like dead weight on his back? What became of the happiness he long for? What happened to everything he so toiled and suffered for? … Once you remember your past lives, you will find it difficult to figure out whether what you are seeing in this life is true or not. You will realize you have seen the same stuff many times before and none of it has endured forever – everything is lost… They all appeared and then they vanished, and so will the ones here now - they are already in the process of disappearing! If we can come to realize this, we will also experience what is known as maya. Along with this we will also experience that all happenings, all events are quite unreal – they are never identical but they are transient. One dream comes, is followed by another dream, and is followed by yet another dream.
Pg 48 -49

It is possible that in the course of his evolution a man may have once been an animal, but he cannot be born as an animal again.
After a hard day’s work, man turns into an animal; hence the world of night is different from the world of the day. pg 51.

It will be helpful to understand this. One who cannot realize God within himself can never realize him at all…First you will have to know God in yourself; first the knower will have to know the divine – that is the nearest door.
But remember, it is very interesting that the individual who enters his self suddenly finds the entrance to all. The door to one’s self is the door to all. No sooner does a man enter his self than he finds he has entered all, because although we are outwardly different, inwardly we are not…. The distinction between ‘I’ and ‘you’ remains only so long as we have not entered within ourselves. The day we enter our I, the I disappears and so does the you – what remains then is all. – Pg 57

You may not have noticed, but all life’s illusions are caused by things revolving at great speed. The wall looks very solid, the rock under your feet feels clearly solid, but according to scientists there is nothing like a solid rock. It is now a well-known fact that the closer scientists observed matter, the more it disappeared… Mostly it was the scientist who used to declare that matter alone is truth, but now that very scientist is saying there is nothing like matter. Scientists say that the fast movement of particles of electricity creates the illusion of density… For example, when an electric fan moves with speed we cannot see the three blades; one cannot actually count how many there are. If it moves even faster, it will appear as if a piece of circular metal is moving. It can be moved so fast that even if you sat on top of it, you wouldn’t feel the gap between the blades; you would feel as if you were sitting on top of solid metal…. Pg 60

And remember, the gods we have created are made differently; each has this respective trademark. A Hindu has made his own God, a Mohammedan has his own. The Christian, the Jaina, the Buddhist – each has his respective trademark. All have coined their own respective words; all have created their own respective gods. A whole great God-manufacturing industry abounds! All parents are anxious to teach their children religion right from childhood, because once a child grows up he will start to think and cause trouble. He will raise all sorts of questions – and not finding any satisfactory answers, will do things difficult for their parents to face. This is why parents are keen to teach their children religion right from infancy – when the child is unaware of many things, when he is vulnerable to learning any kind of stupidity… Therefore those we call religious people are often found to be unintelligent. They lack intelligence, because what we call religion is something which poisoned us before intelligence has arisen – and even afterwards it continues its inner hold… But the problem is that if we come to believe that the same divinity exists in everyone, our God-manufacturing industry will suffer heavily. So in order to prevent this from happening, we keep on imposing our respective Gods… As long as God is different things to different people, as long as there are different places of worship for different people, as long as prayers are different and scriptures are different… the vexing troubles between religions will never come to an end. – Pg 62~65

Book: Testimony of Light (Part 1)

TESTIMONY OF LIGHT
-by Helen Greaves 1969
First published in 1969 and subsequently reprinted annually by the Churches’ Fellowship for Psychical & Spiritual Studies

Telepathy between the living is now generally accepted, but Telepathy between the living and the so-called ‘dead’ is both more doubtful and less common. The highest level of communication is undoubtedly that by Telepathy, and this remarkable book is an outstanding example of communion between the minds of two close friends on either side of the veil...Those who known both Helen Greaves and the late Frances Banks – and their respective writings – are impressed by the authenticity of these scripts. Their phrasing and contents are typical of Miss Banks as they are completely unlike the style of writing shown by the ‘author’ in her previous books and articles...Frances Banks’ message – that the death of the body is but a gentle passing to a much freer and fuller life – presents itself with great clarity and conviction.
- back cover of book

“Frances Banks was an intimate friend of mine. For the last eight years of her life we worked together psychically and spiritually. We also explored the deep levels of meditation…For twenty-five years she (Ms Banks) was a Sister in the Anglican Community of the Resurrection in South Africa” - pg 13

In the words of that great Seeker after Truth, Francis Bacon, she vowed, “I will find where Truth is hid, though it were hid indeed within the Center”. –Pg 14

Then one evening... as I was sitting alone beside my fire listening to radio music, I gradually became aware of a Presence…I was swept on into a meditation in which Frances and I had participated some years before. … I was not only in touch with my own immortal soul, but also with the soul of Frances Banks. … It was some days later when I felt Frances’ mind impinging on mine…. Words dropped into my thought, which did not come from my consciousness. I knew that her discarnate mind and my incarnate one had linked together again in telepathic communication.... I sat down, took my pen and began to write. Words, thoughts, sentences tumbled out on to the paper… –pg 22-24

She trusted implicitly in the survival of mind and personality beyond death and she was reverently aware if the spirit within which urged her on – the Christ-in-You of Christianity...Her belief was that through meditation, through retiring into the deep center of oneself and finding the place of the silence of the soul, communion could be established with advance souls, higher beings, great ones whom we called Saints…This, she felt, was the message for the New Age into which we are now emerging, a greater extension of man’s consciousness, so that even during the limitation of earthly life, he can enter the beauty of the spiritual worlds and receive inspiration there from.

The Scripts as dictated by Frances to the author Helen

5th December 1965, 8:30 p.m. –pg 27.
…. I am in a kind of rest home now. It is run by the Sisters of the community to which I belonged when in incarnation…Souls are brought here from earth and from other places (but I do not know much of those places) – when they are ready. They are ‘nursed’ and taken care of here, as am I…Here, there is no compulsory confinement, and no punishment, except what you mete out to yourself! You can come and go of course… but I realize already that you can only ‘go’ elsewhere, when you are ready… After the Change (she passed away), was over and I was free of my earthly ‘covering’ I ‘woke up’ here in this hospital of the Rest House…. I have discovered that I can use telepathy both ways, to receive and to relay. There is not the difficulties here that we experienced on the earth… I knew now that I could ‘tune in’ and even ‘see’ the earthplane, if desire was strong enough to loosen the barrier between your world and my new one… Now I dwelt in a realm of Thought; and such thought Power, when rightly implemented, can penetrate the dense plane which is the world of human habitation.

12th December 1965 – pg 32
Somewhere in the deeps of my mind two ‘blueprints’ are brought forward into my consciousness.... One is the Perfect Idea with which my spirit went bravely into incarnation. The other is the resultant of only a partially understood Plan … in fact my life as it was actually lived. It was a shock to me, and a very salutary experience, to find that these two plans differed exceedingly. And yet, one learns so much by facing the results…During this experience the whole cycle of your life-term unfolds before you in a kaleidoscopic series of pictures. During this crisis one seems to be entirely alone. Yours is the judgment. You stand at your own bar of judgment. You make your own decisions. You take your own blame… You are the accused, the judge and the jury...The second stage of this recapitulation starts when the soul feels strong enough and calmed sufficiently to take the earth life, round by round (so to speak)… But I will tell you that now you seem no longer alone. Someone is beside you. Whether it is your own High Spirit or a Great Helper I have yet to discover. Only now, as you ponder, work out, go over, tabulate and judge what you did AND WHY AND WHAT WERE THE RESULTS (good or bad) you are gloriously ‘aware’ of this great Being beside you, giving strength, peace, tranquility and helping with constructive criticism. This is a wonderful experience, though harrowing at times... Because this plane is only a few rungs or so higher than the earth plane, there are the same conditions, hospitals, as with your civilizations, and prisons, only here they are selfmade.

18th December – pg 36
“So now you see that consciousness is on an upward spiral, and progresses onwards… even your own….”
“…We had all that Light all the time… and so few of us knew it!” (said the scientist)

1st January 1966
… I would relate my experiences with, and the story of, this brilliant surgeon (she called him Doctor X) who is here with us and who, in his lifetime, indulged in drug-taking until it became an addiction. This man has a brilliant mind. (In this section is the surgeon recap how he relied on the Inner One for help on the operating table and how his fear of losing contact with the Inner One, prompt him to take drugs to calm his mind. Eventually his mind broke and he was certified unsound, put away into a home). … As the film of his life unwound before us, the Doctor saw that he had indeed done his part. He had followed his Pattern, worked out his Blueprint, even though he had badly smudged it in the performance. At the end he saw! He understood. His fault had been a weakness in the soul’s contact with the personality which he had allowed to widen until it threatened to break completely. But he had been released before that had happened. His failure had been his refusal to delve into that Inner One whom he knew… If I should say that there were tears in his eyes when the revelation ended, I would be partly right. There were tears in his soul; tears for lost opportunities. But also tears of relief. Doctor X is a soul with dedicated skill. He will go on to the greater Light…

3rd January pg 47
Yet I knew that I could not bear the High Frequency of His vibration for long. This Leader said that soon…But we had both had a taste of the beauty of the Higher Spheres and of communion with progressed souls… I felt as though I was shining. The Light stayed with me. This is Life… Life more abundant...
The man had been a Nazi leader; well known and extremely powerful during the last war. After the downfall of Germany he had committed suicide. (I cannot give his name but it is not Hitler.) Since that time he had been ‘lodged in the shadows’. Mother Florence explained that he had been ‘wandering in the lower places’. You would no doubt refer to this dark place as the ‘lower astral’. In any case, for twenty earth years, he had been imprisoned by his own evil. Now he had been rescued. He was conscious of his terrible cruelty and filled with remorse. The ward was dark and gloomy,… a pall of murky twilight seemed to hover over it. Only slowly did it become apparent to us that ‘something’ lay on the bed…. The poor creature’s body appeared to be covered with sores and scars; the eyes were closed. “He thinks he is blind” Mother Florence whispered. “He is not of course. But the Light here is too bright and penetrating for him yet; and he cries out that it has blinded him”. “In the next ward”, Mother Florence was saying, “is a woman who was one of his victims, a young Jewish mother who has arrived with him. She has been bound to him by her deep hatred. But she is progressing because she had real love in her heart…She has the power of Love in her soul.

5th January – pg 52
I did not meet the Leader of their Group again. Maybe, as a very new girl, I have to learn to tune up my vibrations to meet Him. He is a very advanced soul, a Master in His own right, and disciple of the Lord Jesus who, I have been told, lives in a Plane far beyond this. As we learn to purify our vibrations, to enlighten our ‘bodies’ and thus refine them into the actuality of receiving more Light from the Divine Mind, so we progress onwards. Doors open to us which were closed before; perception grows clearer and keener and we are able to comprehend more fully the true meaning and purpose for which the Life Force has descended into the slowest and most inert vibration. Jesus came to show and demonstrate that man lived on after leaving the earth plane. He taught that this God Force, this Life is truly within every one of us, dimmed yet inextinguishable.

11th January –pg 58
I would envisage great Beings walking with men on earth. That time will come, no doubt. Perhaps is already happening, but men have no vision to see….man would not yet be ready to receive them. The Planes of the Spirit stretch onward into infinity…. I long to go on, to view those Planes of Light, to touch those Great Lives…By man’s thoughts and inspirations he weaves for himself his future place in this dimension. This is a logical Law. In earth life he can build a façade about himself. Here he has no such mask. He is known for what he is, and what his inner subjective life has made him. …the newly transported soul graduates always to its rightful place, to the place it has earned and prepared. We do make the mistake of valuing intellect to highly in the earth life, scorning the simple follower of Reality.

13th January – pg 64
Our Nazi patient is still the same; inert, motionless, shut up on the shell of himself…Even the Jewish woman has been to see him! She stood looking at this pathetically disfigured soul and at last she whispered, “He doesn’t look so evil, does he?”... There must be some good which the Great Ones recognized, …his besetting sin, which blacked out all else, was love for power; its swelled into viciousness against another race, even causing him to put to death men, women and children of that race. But unless we are All-Wise how can we judge what he did?

17th January – pg 72
… yet in the power of this Light, my mind and spirit stretch out into a glorious extension. Yet what do any of us really know of the subjective extensions of the mind?...Therefore, by thought and will, we can travel far out beyond what constitutes our immediate circumstances, if we wish... This is a world of thought indeed! So is the earth plane, from which I have just graduated. Only there, thought is slower in action because all vibration, and hence all results or effects, are slower, and one has a façade, a persona with which to mask thought. Here one seems to be naked. There is no mask even for thought, one’s inmost thought, and sometimes I shudder at the realization that our fellows here can read us, as we read books illustrating character and thought and action on earth. Here, one’s thoughts return to one like boomerangs, potent and immediate in their effects. As a thought, negative or positive, comes into mind, it crystallized into immediate action. In the human mind, a negative thought can creep in and insinuate itself between all one’s good intentions, lying, apparently dormant. Then it becomes a nucleus attracting to itself thoughts of similar content until it takes on a semblance of force through emotion; later the results, physical, material or spiritual, are manifested... Here the thought-pattern is determinate of one’s welfare, one’s progress, one’s happiness and joy…. We have to learn to live in this new frequency; to guard the doors of one’s mind; to anticipate the boomerang action of negative emotions…This is the way of life on these planes and every soul must assimilate the Way before proceeding onwards into planes of even higher frequencies.

23rd January- pg 81
Some of the souls who come to our side and who have perpetrated much evil, take a great deal of advising and helping at this point Remorse overwhelms them and often they choose to live in the gloom of regret. This is rightly termed ‘gloom’ (and I am not referring to the Place of Shadows)... I have visited the ‘lower regions’ though, I assure you…. Believe me it is a terrible region, or regions, of semi-gloom, of unwholesome ‘sticky’ emotions, of utter distortion of all that is beautiful. One’s feelings are wrung by the pitiful sights; compassion flows out for those poor half-alive creatures in their self darkness...There are wonderful Helpers in these regions. These have to be advanced souls, strong in themselves and firm in he Light before they can choose to do such work. Whilst I was there on a visit, I saw the face of a Being of such beauty that I was arrested in my progress onwards and had to stop awhile must to be in the aura of this Great One. I learned afterwards that he had been almost a saint on earth. He was a great mystic, though an unlettered philosopher...That place was shadow indeed. The shadow of death, but not so definitely the death of the body as the death of the mind, for there the mind is inert in the density caused by the wrong use of a God-given faculty, man’s mind and freewill. This density causes the soul to be starved to such a deficiency as to render it ‘cut-off’ and its Light shut away...Soul is Light infused… or infused Light. The shutting away of the soul is darkness.

Book: Testimony of Light (Part 2)

4th February – pg 83
…that the soul needs to ‘project’ some part of Itself back into the denser environment of earth in repeated attempts to master the trials and stresses of those vibrations…. When a soul (or that portion of a soul which seeks enlargement of experience) reincarnates, it is at a certain stage in its Divine Blueprint. It will seek a trial of strength in some experiences, a leading role in human affairs in others, an emotional compensation in personal relationships and so forth. Therefore, up to a point, it fixes its own ‘coming events’ because they will afford it the necessary experience it has come to gather… In other words, as there is no such thing as time, the beginning, ending and the actual event are all one.

7th February – pg 85
Many who arrive here are either completely overwhelmed by the fact of a further existence, or disillusioned because in their narrow creeds, they have envisaged a heaven of utter delight which, to such crude imaginations, included the joyful inference that from henceforth no efforts would ever be needed by them. In fact, a blessed state of negativity, of passive acceptance, of paradise, a kind of super-Welfare State where they would dream away Eternity. But this is certainly no super-Welfare State….This is an existence in another dimension of thought; disease, poverty, cruelty, suffering as it is known on earth could not possibly exist here…
Our work is to be on hand when those newly arrived entities awake to awareness…. Our ‘patients’ stay with us until they have adjusted to this new life and are ready to join their dear ones or their special Groups… the Sisters explain the Rest Home and its purpose… I suppose you could call this a hospital, a home of rest upon the Way… The weary souls, the frightened souls, the ignorant and ‘fallen’ souls, together with those who have been ‘rescued’ from the ‘Land of Shadows’ required understanding and explanation of their sore states, and there are some to whom Survival has to be explained, even demonstrated.

9th February – pg 87
This is indeed a world of thought. You live, of course, also in a thought world, only with you, thought has been crystallized very deeply into matter and much of the illusion of that existence has become ‘solidified’ in the earth mind….Here the persona, or mask, has been removed and our very thoughts are open to all. This new interest in many of the world’s scientists in Extra Sensory Perception, especially in the fact of Telepathy, will result in wearing away of this persona mask, for through it, disloyalty, insincerity, lying, will be disclosed.
Anger, irritation, depression can actually be seen in the appearance and ‘field’ surrounding an entity. They can actually be felt and sometimes ‘heard’ as a low warning, drumming, rather like a wasp’s buzzing.
Thoughts are truly things. That is why, when an entity comes over to this plane he, or she, automatically graduates to the rightful place. That is Law. It also explains why some folk are so surprised and dismayed at their surrounding. For instance, one who has lived an ordinary good life shall we say, doing the right things, attending to his outward religious observances, but all the time concealing within himself black thoughts of envy, malice, uncharitable ness, will find himself in the company of such as he is, and sometimes of those worse than he is. Dismay will fill his soul until he realizes that this great Law is just, until he makes efforts to adjust his thinking of Love, Charity, Truth and to try to redress the wrongs he has worked on others… One has only to have a glimpse of the Planes of Mind, where emotions have been conquered and transmuted into aspiration, to realize the wonder of Creation… One has only to see the dark misery of the self-imprisonment of souls in the shadow-worlds to understand the justice and the balance of the Life Force.
When telepathy and mind-communication become more widespread in the world, then will Light be raised up in man and he will realize his oneness with all.

17th February –pg 96
There are Heavens…. But there are also Hells though differing from the physical hells and everlasting fiery torments of man’s warped imagination…Yet these hells are not eternal. The man (or woman) in these mental torments need stay there no longer than his desires keep him. He is free to resist the hatreds, cruelties, lusts of his lower nature which he has retained from his earth life and which are keeping him in dark dungeons amid like-minded inhabitants. He can always choose to follow the Light of Love, Forgiveness and Harmony and always there are souls ready to help, to guide, to comfort and to assist.
Cause and Effect is still the Law on this plane of astral matter, as it is on earth. I understand that only as the soul proceeds onward in its progress into Higher Realms can this Law be superseded, and then other and higher Laws must be obeyed.
The journey to this place (the Land of Shadows) is difficult and wearying for we have, by concentrated thought power, to ‘slow down’ our vibrations… The Shadow Land is a very real place indeed; a gloomy murk covers it to which one has to become accustomed; squalid dwellings inhabited by unhappy, tormented beings who jeer and mock and pursue their warped existences. Sometimes these poor souls live in hatred and rebellion, sometimes in apathy and sometime fierce denial that there is any other state of existence possible.
(Here, the story being told is about a painter that she encounter while she was there. Apparently, the painting that he painted are all dull and how in the end, he was persuaded to move on to brighter colors which shines with more Light.)

19th February – pg 102
And now as I look back over my earth life, I realize that so much was illusion…Like most of us in the body life I was in illusion; lost in glamour. I looked for the Spirit to reveal itself to me, when all that was necessary was ‘relaxation unto God’. The Spirit was always with me, veiled because physical sight could not view it. The great secret of finding that Spirit was the ‘letting go’ of self. I, who longed so much for the touch of the divine, who dedicated my life to religious work, who read lives of the saints for their examples, who delved into the sciences of psychology, extra-sensory perception and all psychic phenomena, as well as into the occult sciences, who denied myself the usual sensual and reproductive life of a human being; who truly tried to obey the precepts of the Master, as related in the New Testament, I had accepted the simple Reality of those words: “Behold, I am with you even unto the end”.I had not being able to let go, and let the Spirit absorb me.

25th February – pg 104
…as far as my progress will allow, and believe me, the barriers are in one’s own consciousness…The only hindrances to progress are from one’s own limited reception of Light.
…now you see for yourself how the Light seemed to have been withdrawn from you during your own feelings of weakness and sickness. It is as if there has been a power cut in the electrical supply. Because the body entities are so real to us in our earth life, and because, as yet, most of us are not sufficiently advanced to supersede this body-call, we are cut off from the High Supply. The vibrations slow down – become grounded in matter – become denser and harder to penetrate.

9th March – pg 106
I see that you have been reading Dr. Weatherhead’s book The Christian Agnostic… ‘Unless we can break out of the prison of old-fashioned expressions, creeds and formulae, we shall never be free to find the far more glorious truths which are inherent in the Christian religion.’
Not that I no longer believed in God, or did not care to follow the pattern of Jesus, nor that I doubted that Christ was the Light of the World, but because, into my experience and thoughts had seep, to me, an explanation of these mysteries. Personal discovery had implanted within me doubts of the veracity of those tenets of the Faith which even more than twenty years ago were being superseded as outmoded, limited in interpretation, and impractical forms for modern belief.
There are no tenets, no creeds, no formulae, no hard and fast rules devised by any mind to restrict or confine progress here. All is individual, and yet all is for the good of the whole; for the advancement of the group… each soul and each group moves onward towards greater expansion… individually and collectively. The soul must judge for itself – must make its own progress, must choose what to accept as truth for itself. No soul is coerced, forced or bound by creeds. If he believes that this is Heaven, or conversely that he is in Hell, then for him that is so at his present state of progress.

25th March – pg 114
We are, to my limited knowledge, all members not of one Group but many, and the many make up the Great Group or the Great Soul Being in which we live and move and have our being…
First of all we belong to a Family Group. The Family Group Soul is the most important in their lives. The next Groups are the Group of interest, passionate attachments to the arts, music, education, social sciences and social service. These are wider, more extensive Groups and extend beyond families and individuals to smaller Groups. The next stage of groups is on a higher level and is not always attained by souls who desire rapid return to earth conditions. We could compare these Higher Groups with the advanced classes in a university. In the guidance of these Groups are great Beings, watching over their cell-like clusters of souls. They worked on higher mental Rays of influence. These Soul Groups are extensive, yet concentrated in their classes and workshops. They work for progress in Divine Imagination … Amongst them are philosophers, scientists, researchers, priests, teachers. They are parts of Groups which influence and impress such movements on earth as Psychic Research, Healing movements, Religious Co-operation, the advancement of Science and all movement intended to bring Light upon future worlds.

28th March – pg 118
Here, progress, when made, is always rewarded with a service. In other words, as one advances to greater Light, so one is allowed to teach and guide others of the Group on a lesser path. The Group itself is made up of souls at all levels of consciousness, from highest to the mediocre, but the Spirit of the Groups only Itself advances as the younger and less knowledgeable members make progress. It is a unified advance. Thus we are indeed ‘one with another’ and it seems to me that one of our chief lesson to learn whilst immersed in the personality is that of tolerance. For often we do not know who is a member of our same group… we may find that the other person is an advanced member of our own Group to whom we are indissolubly linked by ties of spiritual kinship.
On the other hand there are souls to whom we instinctively and immediately react with affection, admiration, union…but now I realize that those souls who attract us are part of ourselves.

Making a difference to others lives?

I remember back in 1981 when I was an undergraduate in the National University of Singapore, I used to rush to the computer center after class to snatch a place at the card punching machines. In those days, the only computers available are mainframe. Monitors are rare and keyboard does not exist. To write a program, one need to buy stacks of cards and punch holes in them using the card punching machines. Each card has 80 column by 8 rows. Each column represent one byte. The card punch machines punches the ASCII code for the character that you type in. Each card represent one row of text. So if your program is 1000 statements, you need 1000 cards, arrange in proper order. If you drop the stack of cards, you will be sorry for yourself.

How time flies. With the invention of microcomputer and microprocessors, the life we have today is totally different from our parents; for better or for worst. We would be totally lost today, if our mobile phones or computers stop working. Information at finger tips, anytime of the day, instantly is expected by everyone. We may bemoan the cost of Window operating systems or Microsoft Office. Many have probably curse Bill Gates silently for charging this obscene amount, making himself the richest man on earth and yet they continue buying the softwares.

Imagine if Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Sim Wong Hoo and other inventors weren't born,
what would our life be now? You may dislike any of them but you cannot deny that they make a difference to the lives of billion of people around the world. So are great statesmen like Ronald Reagan, Deng Xiao Ping, Lee Kuan Yew and others. People whose action touches the millions or billions of lives in more positive ways than negative. On the other spectrum are those that is better off not born like Hitler and Osama.

So where do you stand? How many lives have you touched positively and how many negatively? If I were St. Peter, this will be my yard stick to determine if you are qualified to enter heaven and not how often you go to churchs or temples. I wouldn't care if you always praise the lord or bow until your head hits on the floor. I wouldn't care if you sing hymns and pray everyday. You may be the biggest donor for some charity event on TV or you may be seen in public doing charity work but you are not getting into heaven if what is at the back of your mind is something else. Charity obsession is no difference from publicity obsession. But then again I am not St. Peter.

We are all so consume by self, that most of the time we forgot that there are others around us who are in poorer states than us. We only look at the other's actions but not their reason for those actions. The recent case of a businessman, in Singapore, caught putting glue into neighbours' keyholes because they did not agree to sell their houses in an en-bloc exercise is an example. He looks at the neighbours action but not their reason. There is no compassion in him and maybe his neighbours too. The other example is the case where a Mercedes car bump into the volunteer on purpose at a Church in Singapore due to a disagreement in parking. For every statement given to the press in these two cases, there is probably another selfish reason behind in back of their mind. For these people, be forewarned that what can you hid in your mind from others, you cannot hid it from those in heaven. Being religious or not does not make a difference. You only need to show a little kindness and compassion to make a difference to others lives.

Where are you going?

You were walking along the Orchard Road and suddenly without warning, you felt a sharp pain in the chest. You knelt down, took a deep breath and lo and behold, the pain is gone. You stood up and continued walking down the road. All of a sudden you heard a commotion behind. You turned around and saw someone lying on the ground. A small group of people had already responded to help. You were late for your movie and so you continue walking and let others take care of the situation. At the cinema, you walked right in holding your ticket in your hand but the attendant was too busy to take your ticket. So you did not bother and continued inside.

When you arrived home in the evening, the house is totally empty. Where is your spouse, your children and your parents? You tried calling each one of them but nobody pickup the phone. What is going on? The dinner is not prepared. You decide to cook a package of instant noodle for dinner. It's already 11pm and so you went to bed.

You woke up in the morning to the sound of sobbing in the hall. You saw your wife crying at the sofa and walked over to ask her what is going on but she continue crying. She must still be mad at you for going to the movie alone. She chose not to watch that show in the first place. She think Harry Porter is childish. After asking a few time what is wrong and not getting a reply, you gave up and went downstairs to the coffeeshop for you daily cup.

At the ground floor, HDB void deck, you saw a makeshift room. You knew that some body has passed away and this is a wake. As you walked pass, you were astonished to see the rest of your family members there, crying. Oh no!, must be dad. He is in such a poor health lately. He is already in his eighties. You walked in, saw the coffin and look inside, ready to cry. What you saw make your legs go numb. The face look familiar. It's looks like you. "Hey, come on everybody. That's is not me. I am still here. Can't you see?", you shouted. Nobody reply.

For the next few days, you slowly began to realize that nobody speak to you. Everybody ignore you. So you must really be dead, you figure. "So what am I going to do? I don't know where to go." You hang around until the funeral is over and went back to your home all the while thinking that you were taught that someone will come and fetch you. Grandpa says that the beings with ox head, horse face (ren tou ma mian - in mandarin) will come. Your pastor says Jesus will come. I have not seen any. What should I do?

If you think the above scenerio is a story I made up, you are right. So non of it will happen? Wrong. All of it will happen in one form or another. Open up your mind and read some testimonies of people who have gone to the edge of life and return. There are volumes and volumes of research data conducted by renown doctors on out of body experiences and near death experiences of terminally ill patients. One of the famous doctor, Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross work in a hospice for terminally ill children and wrote some books on what these children have to teach us.

So, if no one is coming to fetch you 'home', shouldn't you find out for yourself what you will be expecting? You are going on a trip that is new to you and no body is picking you up at the airport. What do you do? You read and find out before you embark on the journey, right? It's the same here. A narrow mind, blindly following your religion's as taught by your priest and monk, will not give you this knowledge.

“How long had these three been stuck in this .. pseudo reality? I remember Dr. H. explaining that when people die, they sometimes become prisoners in their own self-created belief systems. For example, an individual may pass on and not know it, or refuse to accept his own death; then he may continue to ‘haunt’ an old stomping ground, castle, hotel, etc.”

Book: Soul Traveller - By Albert Taylor

Soul Traveller.
A guide to out-of-body experiences and the wonders beyond
-by Albert Taylor 1996
SolTravler@aol.com

ALBERT TAYLOR, PH.D., is an aeronautical engineer and scientist who spend almost two decades evaluating satellite system designs and many confidential government program. Currently a metaphysical researcher, Taylor is an active member of the International Association of Near Death Studies, and a participant in the Monroe Institute’s Voyagers program. He lives in Los Angeles. – back of book

Can out-of-body experiences help shape our destinies? In this amazing account, a former NASA aeronautical engineer and space researcher Albert Taylor shines a dazzling light into the tunnel of the unconscious mind. From the deathlike night paralysis and lucid dreams if his childhood – dubbed “witch rides” by his grandmother- to his later quest to explain these extraordinary episodes, Taylor learned to identify the early signs of his facility for out-of-body experiences, also known as astral projection.
Through extensive research and experimentation, Taylor learned to control his incredible flights of “soul travel,” enabling him to move beyond our physical plane, go to distant places, communicate with the dead, and gain psychic insights and miraculous healing power. Ultimately, he came to a deeper understanding of his own role on Earth, and the meaning of life and death. Now, Taylor shares his remarkable journey of discovery and show how we too can develop this phenomenal ability – offering striking proof of dimensions beyond our own. – back cover

“Often I would wake up fully aware of my surroundings; I could hear and see, but I was incapable of moving. I felt paralyzed!” - Introduction page xvi

“.. but later I woke up in the middle of the night vibrating... but in time I realized that the vibrations were another part of the astral experiences. I would later discover that the vibrations are a signal that my consciousness is transitioning to a higher level of reality. The astral plane, as metaphysicians refer to it, is the next level above the physical. When I finally learned to control the vibrations, I was able to access planes of consciousness beyond the astral. It appears that my soul body vibrates or oscillates at a particular rate. The non physical beings that inhabit these realms also appear to be at various vibrational states. I wonder if the more and individual spirit evolves, the higher the soul consciousness vibrates. “ -March20, 1993 page 6

“Soon I was flying over the neighborhood. Below me was what looked like a swimming pool. ……I became aware that two or three figures were standing just beyond the edge of the pool, slightly beyond my vision. I felt as if the figures were observing me, like teachers monitoring a playground.” - March28, 1993 page 7

“Then something happened that would permanently alter my out-of-body experiences. The softest, kindest female voice that I have ever heard spoke into my ear. ……….
Not only had I seen, felt and heard an apparition, it decided to communicate. I guess if it hadn’t been aware of my fear of spirits before, it was now! How patient my guides were during my earlier explorations. If only I’d know that something wonderful and totally beyond my imagination was trying to open a dialogue.” - September26, 1993 pg17

“I recalled Dr. H. explaining that sometimes people create vehicles to move about in during an out-of-body experience……….On the astral plane things that are self-generated appeared to be as real as in the physical realm. …….
Later I would have find out two important things. The first is when I travel out-of-body on the physical plane, I seem to operate within the laws of time and space. But traveling at a higher vibratory level, there is no time! By this I mean I have had experiences above the astral that seemed like hours, but when I returned and reconnected with my body, only a few minutes had passed.” - October23, 1993 pg24

“Later, I would discover that in fact the nonphysical entities I had seen were trying to communicate with me, but I was too preoccupied with suppressing my fear. This kept me from raising my own vibratory level to that of the hooded figures – almost like partially tuning into a television station where you can pick up the video but not the audio. This was also one of my first encounters with what I later found out are guiding spirits. These spirits come and go depending on the needs of the one being guided.” – Feb21, 1994 pg31

“How long had these three been stuck in this .. pseudo reality? I remember Dr. H. explaining that when people die, they sometimes become prisoners in their own self-created belief systems. For example, an individual may pass on and not know it, or refuse to accept his own death; then he may continue to ‘haunt’ an old stomping ground, castle, hotel, etc.” -Mar14, 1994 pg 35.

“This experience was a major clue for me about the properties of the physical world. As humans, most of us are aware of nothing beyond what our five senses tell us. But to a nonphysical spirit or soul traveler, the physical plane is something to perceive only if one chooses to do so. So, if I can look past the physical world just by focusing my thoughts, then how real can it be or how important can it be? Is it just an illusion our five senses have convinced us of? Have we all agreed the physical plane exists in order for it to continue as a learning environment for souls? “ - Jan14, 1995 pg 50

“During that early out-of-body experience in April 1993 something happened that forever changed me. While I floated there above my body, all of a sudden I felt as if my consciousness was somehow opened up, and information about everything was abruptly poured in. For the first time in my life I had absolutely no questions about anything. For a fleeting period of time I felt that I knew everything. Suddenly the ups and downs of the earth life system made sense. All the mysteries, frustrations, disappointments, and miracles, all had a distinct purpose….. And while I was in the midst of this phenomenon I had the overwhelming feeling of finally being home.” –pg 55

“I couldn’t help but notice the luminescent brilliance of my spiritual friend. The warm angelical glow that emanated from him was awe-inspiring. Then without warning, I received mental information that obliterated the last remnants of my religious upbringing.
I want to share what I now believe to be and inescapable self-realization. My guide, my guardian angel, my Otto-matic pilot, I believe, is my higher self. It stretches far beyond my imagination to fabricate a concept like this on. But I believe the being is me in a higher form of consciousness. An inner part of me somehow understood that this ‘Oversoul’ has been with me from my physical beginning. In essence, he has always been with me, and always will be.” - Oct31, 1994 pg 75.

“I wonder how many times a spirit has communicated with my soul unbeknownst to my earthbound self. Is this how these beings guide us during the course of our lives? And is this guidance normally on a subconscious level? I can’t help but think about the many times I’ve suddenly remembered a dream that was somehow suppressed or forgotten.” –Nov17, pg 81
“I also want to point out that during the out-of-body experience the power of thought is a tool that must be handled carefully. Anything you can imagine you will see or experience. This alone indicates the awesome capabilities of our soul.
I have come to believe that thought is just as powerful in the physical as in the astral plane or beyond. After all, everything around you presently began as a thought in someone’s mind; it just didn’t manifest instantly as it would have on the astral plane.” – pg91.

“it has been well documented that during hypnosis and after a near-death experience, hundreds of people have reported experiencing a detailed review of their lives. How many times have we heard the expression, ‘My life flashed before my eyes!’
Sometime after exiting the tunnel, a life review must be endured. I said endured because looking back at one’s own life has been described as a mixture of pleasure and devastating sadness. The extent of sadness usually depends on how kind or cruel a person has been to others. Those experiencing near-death have described feeling the exact same pain, sadness, and hurt they thoughtlessly and selfishly caused another.” Pg 96.

Religion and spirituality

"A religious man may not be spiritual. A spiritual man may not be religious."

"If Spirituality is like an elephant, then Religions are the blind men deciding how the elephant looks like by feeling it with their hands."

From where I live, in Singapore, we have freedom of religion. People are in general more religious, probably due to the fact that basic needs have been fulfilled. Apart from that, being in a religious group give them a sense of belonging. Having a more religious society should equate to a more caring, more loving, more forgiving and more compassionate society. Unfortunately that is not the case. So what is wrong here?

Traditional and new-age religions do their part in bringing awareness to spirituality and that is about all that they did. As a seekers of these religions, you are just at the starting point of spirituality, no matter how long you have been a 'member'. Unless you open your mind to inquire about what others have to say, you are not going to improve further. If you think that your religion is the ultimate answer, your God is the only right one, then you are just one of the BLIND men. Spirituality is more than just GOD and his fellow beings. Its also about who you are, where you come from, where are you going and why all this fuss. The objective of religions, as they always claim, is to 'save' you. From who, may I asked? The answer is: tada!!! From YOURSELF. You are the greatest evil to yourself. Surprise?
