When you arrived home in the evening, the house is totally empty. Where is your spouse, your children and your parents? You tried calling each one of them but nobody pickup the phone. What is going on? The dinner is not prepared. You decide to cook a package of instant noodle for dinner. It's already 11pm and so you went to bed.
You woke up in the morning to the sound of sobbing in the hall. You saw your wife crying at the sofa and walked over to ask her what is going on but she continue crying. She must still be mad at you for going to the movie alone. She chose not to watch that show in the first place. She think Harry Porter is childish. After asking a few time what is wrong and not getting a reply, you gave up and went downstairs to the coffeeshop for you daily cup.
At the ground floor, HDB void deck, you saw a makeshift room. You knew that some body has passed away and this is a wake. As you walked pass, you were astonished to see the rest of your family members there, crying. Oh no!, must be dad. He is in such a poor health lately. He is already in his eighties. You walked in, saw the coffin and look inside, ready to cry. What you saw make your legs go numb. The face look familiar. It's looks like you. "Hey, come on everybody. That's is not me. I am still here. Can't you see?", you shouted. Nobody reply.
For the next few days, you slowly began to realize that nobody speak to you. Everybody ignore you. So you must really be dead, you figure. "So what am I going to do? I don't know where to go." You hang around until the funeral is over and went back to your home all the while thinking that you were taught that someone will come and fetch you. Grandpa says that the beings with ox head, horse face (ren tou ma mian - in mandarin) will come. Your pastor says Jesus will come. I have not seen any. What should I do?
If you think the above scenerio is a story I made up, you are right. So non of it will happen? Wrong. All of it will happen in one form or another. Open up your mind and read some testimonies of people who have gone to the edge of life and return. There are volumes and volumes of research data conducted by renown doctors on out of body experiences and near death experiences of terminally ill patients. One of the famous doctor, Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross work in a hospice for terminally ill children and wrote some books on what these children have to teach us.
So, if no one is coming to fetch you 'home', shouldn't you find out for yourself what you will be expecting? You are going on a trip that is new to you and no body is picking you up at the airport. What do you do? You read and find out before you embark on the journey, right? It's the same here. A narrow mind, blindly following your religion's as taught by your priest and monk, will not give you this knowledge.
“How long had these three been stuck in this .. pseudo reality? I remember Dr. H. explaining that when people die, they sometimes become prisoners in their own self-created belief systems. For example, an individual may pass on and not know it, or refuse to accept his own death; then he may continue to ‘haunt’ an old stomping ground, castle, hotel, etc.”
