"A religious man may not be spiritual. A spiritual man may not be religious."
From where I live, in Singapore, we have freedom of religion. People are in general more religious, probably due to the fact that basic needs have been fulfilled. Apart from that, being in a religious group give them a sense of belonging. Having a more religious society should equate to a more caring, more loving, more forgiving and more compassionate society. Unfortunately that is not the case. So what is wrong here?
Traditional and new-age religions do their part in bringing awareness to spirituality and that is about all that they did. As a seekers of these religions, you are just at the starting point of spirituality, no matter how long you have been a 'member'. Unless you open your mind to inquire about what others have to say, you are not going to improve further. If you think that your religion is the ultimate answer, your God is the only right one, then you are just one of the BLIND men. Spirituality is more than just GOD and his fellow beings. Its also about who you are, where you come from, where are you going and why all this fuss. The objective of religions, as they always claim, is to 'save' you. From who, may I asked? The answer is: tada!!! From YOURSELF. You are the greatest evil to yourself. Surprise?
